Digital signatures and secure hashing can verify that a digital file has not been altered since it was created, and can anchor a scan of a handwritten sample to an auditable record. Automated AI screening, like HandAuth Pro, looks for broad statistical patterns and obvious artifacts. However, classical forensic examination by a qualified document examiner goes much further — evaluating stroke order, pen pressure, rhythm, tremor, and microscopic characteristics that automated tools cannot reliably assess. For reports and internal records, HandAuth Pro can produce a signed manifest recording the image hash and basic metadata. This supports file integrity checking, but it is not equivalent to a certified forensic opinion.
For workflows involving electronically signed PDFs, HandAuth Pro also performs digital signature validation: certificate chain validation, OCSP/CRL revocation checking, and PAdES conformance level detection. This is separate from the handwriting-comparison analysis described above and applies specifically to electronic/digital signatures embedded in PDF documents.
